Entrepreneurship & enterprise skills are commonly thought to be associated with those who start and run a business, sometimes based on an idea or invention they have created. In reality, any person can harness the skills of entrepreneurial and enterprise thinking to the benefit of themselves and/or their employer. These skills include using innovation to improve products or procedures, spotting opportunities, risk tolerance, commercial awareness, opportunity awareness and creative problem solving.

Skills included in entrepreneurship and enterprise
Skills in this area can be very specific to starting a business or skills that support our general development. In terms of ‘more traditional’ employment, entrepreneurial thinking, opportunity awareness and creativity are just some of the skills that make a valuable contribution to a team or that make a strong leader. Lots of the skills included in this area are also generally beneficial to our ability to thrive in new and different situations (think joining a new group, giving presentations, managing projects, and articulating our ideas effectively). All this means that taking part in activities that strengthen our entrepreneurial skills is rarely time wasted.
