The following table provides interest rates for federal students loans.

There is currently a temporary 0% interest rate on loans.

On November 22, 2022, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) extended COVID-19 emergency relief for student loans again. We will update this page once we are made aware of when payments will commence. The following items are effected:

  • a suspension of loan payments

  • a 0% interest rate

  • stopped collections on defaulted loans

Loan Interest Rates by Disbursement Dates

Direct Subsidized Loans (Undergraduate) 4.99% 5.50%
Direct Unsubsidized Loans (Undergraduate) 4.99% 5.50%
Direct Unsubsidized Loans (Graduate or Professional) 6.54% 7.05%
Direct PLUS Loans (Parents and Graduate or Professional) 7.54% 8.05%

Interest rates shown in the chart above are fixed rates for the life of the loan.
