Pension Contributions

As a Scottish student your bursary entitlement may be calculated by Student Awards Agency for Scotland as comparatively lower than other UK students. This is because they do not deduct pension contributions from household income when calculating student finance eligibility.

We compensate any student who has been affected by this by awarding the missing amount of Bursary separately.

Apply for a Bursary top up

Every year, please send evidence of each parent’s pension contributions made in the previous tax year, so that we can check if you have missed out on any bursary and award it to you. This could be wage slips that show pension contributions, a statement from their pension scheme provider, or any other official documentation which shows the value of pension contributions either of them made.

If you've already completed some years of your course, send in evidence for all previous years, back to the academic year 2016 to 2017. We will award you the top up for all your previous years.
