Please note: There is a significant delay at the VA office when it comes to approving new courses. If you are applying for Benefits to a course that is not currently approved at our University, we cannot guarantee that the VA office will approve the course or that you will be able to receive GI Bill funding during your course with us and need to have an alternative way of funding your studies.

If applying for VA benefits for the Master of Accounting please contact Julia Lindridge (j.lindridge@jbs.cam.ac.uk) at the Judge Business School who is the VA certifying official for this course only.

Students that are eligible for VA Benefits should first visit the US Department of Veteran Affairs website and apply for benefits.

Our office here at Student Services Centre will be required to request VA course approval for any courses that haven't already been approved by the VA for a previous student. There are currently severe delays in this process at the VA Office and if your course is not currently an approved course as listed below, you will need to have an alternative method of paying your fees as we are unable to guarantee that your course will be approved during your time of study with us. Please see below a list of our currently approved courses with the VA Office:

Students taking Certificate/Diploma courses are not eligible for these benefits when attending a University/College outside the US.

The amount received from the VA depends upon entitlement, the amount the VA pay the institution depends upon eligibility (there is a cap when attending a foreign school – see below) and is generally split across the 3 terms.

Below is a link to the VA website with information on payment rates - the VA set a maximum amount (each year) that they pay for students attending foreign schools and for 2023/2024 the cap is $27,120.05

2023 - 2024 Benefit Rates

The University of Cambridge will need to confirm your enrolment before your benefits will be released.

Our office will require the following information from yourself to enable us to process your request:

  • Certificate of Eligibility for Veteran Affairs Funding
  • Copy of letter/email of your confirmation of admission to our University
  • The VA require that institutions agree to providing their office with access to academic and financial school records for those students taking VA benefits. In order for this to happen you will need to confirm that you agree to the VA being provided with access to your academic and financial school records should it be requested.
  • Your full SSN. Please send this to us in a password protected document and send us the password in a second email.

Please contact Caroline Brown (Caroline.Brown@admin.cam.ac.uk) quoting 'VA Benefits' in the subject line of your e-mail if you are applying for VA benefits or have any questions.
