Please note the definitions below may differ to those used in colleges and they may also vary from college to college.
Studentships/Scholarships
Usually full-cost awards which cover the University Composition Fee plus a maintenance allowance which will be at least the minimum required by the University for admission.
Bursaries
Financial aid for a part of the overall cost of your course, including small sums to help with fieldwork, photocopying etc.
Fees-Only Awards
Awards which cover the costs of the University Composition Fees but do not provide a maintenance stipend.
Loans
Administered by external organisations and pay either the full or part-cost of your course.
Prizes
Either medals, or small sums of money offered in recognition of academic excellence whilst studying at Cambridge.
Hardship Awards
Discretionary awards made to help students during period of financial difficulty. The value of these awards is variable and determined on a case-by-case basis.
